What Causes Kidney Stones To Move

Written By: admin - Aug• 30•12

Kidney disease is one such killer. It can manifest itself in two ways. One is acute kidney disease and the other is chronic kidney disease. The former strikes suddenly whereas the latter takes effect over a period of time. Either way, the result if fatal for the canine and heartbreaking for the owner.

This disease causes a loss of approximately seventy percent of normal kidney fu 00004000 nction and it is these organs that act as the body's filtration system. If these do not work properly, toxins and waste products slowly build up in the blood. This can lead to a variety of problems, and sadly, eventual death. This unfortunately is the harsh reality of canine kidney disease.

Kidney failure in dogs stops the ability of the body to function properly. Toxins begin to build up in their bodies and once this starts, a number of symptoms and warning signs will more than likely become apparent. These two chronic diseases show different symptoms, the acute form can appear more suddenly. Often, dogs suffering from this type of kidney disease will possibly have become dehydrated. For the owner to test for hydration, gently pull on the skin of your dog's stomach. This should spring back. If it doesn't, there may be a possibility that your dog is dehydrated.

You may have noticed your dog not wanting to pass urine or no urine production at all. This is also is a warning sign that your pet may be a victim of acute kidney disease. This disease can lead to your dog having extremely painful kidneys; or you may notice the animal moving with stiff legs or an arched back. These symptoms are signs for any dog owner to watch out for.

In the case of chronic kidney disease, the symptoms are different and they occur over a period of time. The first indicator is an increase in thirst and consequently water consumption. This is a constant indicator of the disease. The dog might lose his or her desire to eat resulting in excessive weight loss over time. Contrary to the acute kidney disease, in the chronic version, the canine loses control over its bladder function. As a result, it urinates very frequently. As time passes, the process of urinating will cause extreme discomfort and become very painful. It is possible that there might even be blood in the urine or it may become impossible for the dog to urinate completely. Since the chronic kidney disease is a fatal illness, it is advisable to rush your pet to the veterinarian as soon as you see any of the warning signs such as problem in urination, vomiting, lethargy and depression. Any combination of these signs is a sure shot reason to go to the vet. If caught in time, there is hope for cure of this malady.

The treatment that a vet will start, for this very serious ailment, is typically four staged. The first step is to carry out a physical check up to eliminate other reasons for the symptoms. Next is the verification from the owner regarding the history and symptoms of this disorder. Then there will be tests - a blood test and finally a urine test to confirm the prognosis.

What Causes Kidney Stones Oxalate

A lot of parents report concern over sandy stools in their child with Autism. This can be very common and yet a source of worry for parents who do not know what is causing their child's sandy stool.

There are two very common causes for sandy stools in children with Autism. The first possible cause of sandy stools is a lack of bile acid formation in the liver. Fat soluble vitamins require bile acids for proper absorption and when bile acids are lacking, a sandy-like substance can collect in the stools. A simple remedy is to supplement with Taurine daily and that helps support bile acid production which resolves the sandy stools. Taurine is an amino acid that helps the liver produce bile acid.

Another common cause of sandy stools involves organic compounds known as oxalates. Oxalates can combine with other minerals and form crystal-like compounds which can accumulate and can appear as a sand-like substance in stools. Oxalates can be found in many foods, including leafy greens and fruits.

Simply reducing the levels of oxalates in the diet can reduce the appearance of sandy stools. There are many resources on the internet to help with low oxalate diets and to determine which foods have the highest oxalates. We know that some adults are predisposed to kidney stones because of a high absorption rate of oxalates.

So again there are two main causes of sandy stools in children with Autism. One cause is a lack of bile acid formation in the liver and supplementing the amino acid Taurine daily can reduce sandy stools. The second most common cause is high oxalate levels. Adoption a low oxalate diet can reduce the appearance of sandy stools.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
What are ways to get rid of kidney stones?
I'm only 16, and I've been getting chronic kidney stones since I was 6 or 7 years old.. My doctors have no idea why I've been getting them, all they tell me is that they are calcium oxalate. So we cut down on dairy with me, but I still get them 3-5 times a month. I really have no idea what's causing them at all, or how to get rid of them...

    • ANSWER:
Drink ALOT of water. More than the 64 oz a day you are supposed to be drinking to keep the calcium build up flushed out of your kidneys. Also cut back on the foods that tend to be high in calcium. This is dairy, beans, etc...

  2. QUESTION:
Can a glass of mineral water neutralize the quantity of oxalic acid from a black or green tea bag?
I found some articles where we are advised to eat food rich in calcium before drinking green or black tea, thus the insoluble calcium oxalate (one of the main causes of kidney stones) is formed in the digestive tract and eliminated. But what if I put the bag in a cup of hot non-carbonated mineral water (rich in calcium and other minerals)? Could this have the same effect?

    • ANSWER:
Hmm.. It may be because of the digestion, and it may not help if the combination is done outside the body.

But you might want to check with a doctor, or health adviser.

  3. QUESTION:
So I have at least 10-12 kidney stones right now...?
So I am a 23 year old woman and am currently halfway through my Peace Corps service (meaning I have been here a little over a year and have just under a year left) I found out about 8 months ago that I have a very large number of kidney stones. I found myself in agonizing pain one morning and called my doctor and they came and got me and admitted me into a hospital overnight in the capital and then had me stay there and ran a bunch of tests for a week. Well, the ultrasound showed many many stones. However, they stopped hurting completely after about 2 days and I never passed anything (that I saw anyway - I suppose one may have broke up and passed unnoticed). They figure from th urinalysis that they are the calcium oxalate kind although they said they couldn't be sure because I didnt pass a stone for them to analyze.

I had a follow-up ultrasound in April and they found either 10 or 12 (I forget now which) and then the ultrasound technician quit looking, said that was sufficient to prove they were still present, and sent me on my way. At that time my largest ones were about 7mm in diameter and I had several that were 5mm, 4mm, 3mm, etc... Well, that was the last I have heard about them... Obviously the Peace Corps is not going to pay for any sort of "unnecessary" procedure for me to get rid of them if they are not hurting me constantly or causing other problems but I feel kind of like a ticking time bomb. I know I have about a dozen (or more) little stones sitting in my kidneys (I have them in both) and I kind of question what my doctors back home would be suggesting at this point... I figure it is only a matter of time before one of them decides to move and I am once again in excruciating pain.

So, for my question: For any of you who are doctors or for any of you who are in or have been in my position, what are the normal recommendations at this point? My doctors have pretty much told me to drink at least 2 liters of water a day and avoid foods with high oxalate (which is virtually impossible where I am at because one of the main foods eaten here is tomatoes). That is all they have said though... Any help is welcome :)

    • ANSWER:
Im not a doctor, just an ordinary person.
I also have kidney stones. I have huge chunks stuck in my left kidney.
I also have smaller ones. One of them moved to my bladder and has grown to the size of a golfball. No joke. I had one surgery two weeks ago and need more surgery to remove the other half. The urologist has told me that kidney stones are a tricky unpredictable proposition. Sometimes they will pass on their own. Sometimes they will come out in your urine. Sometimes they wont and have to be surgically removed.
Sometimes they will cause agonizing pain and kidney/bladder blockages, sometimes they can go totally unnoticed. Some people get infections from them, others dont.
Every human body has a different reaction. The best and only thing you can do at this point is get yourself hooked up with a highly qualified urologist who can monitor the situation for you and will be there for you if you need any kind of treatment. A urologist is the only kind of Doctor that can handle your situation. You should drink plenty of fluids, rest when needed etc. Good luck.

  4. QUESTION:
    Concern about vegan diet?
Within the past year, I made the decision to become a vegan for ethical, health-related, and religious reasons. I have no qualms with the taste of my new diet, and have even been able to replenish nutrients lost from this choice by taking pills/capsules (Vitamin B12, Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc, and various others).

My primary concern involves the increased calcium intake from these pills. I am aware that calcium oxalate (CaC2O4) is an insoluble compound that can form into crystals in the urinal tract and cause "kidney stones" and other bodily pain/harm. By meeting my daily requirements for calcium, am I increasing my risk of acquiring kidney stones? What should I do to prevent this from possibly occurring? Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
Unfortunately a vegan diet is likely to include a fair bit of oxalic acid from nuts, seeds, spinach, broccoli, tomatoes, capsicums and other foods that you can see in http://au.search.yahoo.com/search?p=%22high+oxalic+acid+foods%22&fr=ush-ans&ygmasrchbtn=Web+Search

Foods such as apples, oranges, lemons, melons, pumpkin and other alkaline fruit and vegetables would undoubtedly help to neutralize the oxalic acid.

To get calcium stones you would probably need a lot more calcium than you are getting from calcium supplements.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
24 year old female with multiple kidney stones?
I am a 24 year old female who has been getting stones since I was 15. When I was younger I would pass 2 or so a year, but for the past 4 years or so it's been upwards of 6 or more a year. Since January of this year, I have passed 3 stones, and have 2 sitting in there, one of which is 6mm. I have been to the urologist many times, and they never have answers for what is causing them, and for some reason I can never catch one for them to test and find out what kind of stone it is. There is absolutely no history of stones in my family other than my grandfather passing one stone at the age of 59.

How can I help the situation? I am tired of being in pain, missing work, and having no answers. I drink plenty of water, don't drink a lot of caffeine, eat all organic/natural foods, and still nothing helps. What are the main causes in women, especially young, for kidney stones?

    • ANSWER:
      Hi,
my cousin used to suffer from kidney stones. Kidney stones are mainly caused due to the body's inability to dissolve minerals and stones. As a result they solidify and forms in the stones. There is a longstanding belief among the mainstream medical community that vitamin C causes kidney stones, which may be based on little science. Although some individual recent studies have found a relationship there is no clear relationship between excess ascorbic acid intake and kidney stone formation.Other types of kidney stones are composed of struvite (magnesium, ammonium and phosphate); calcium phosphate; and cystine.

The formation of struvite stones is associated with the presence of urea-splitting bacteria, most commonly Proteus mirabilis (but also Klebsiella, Serratia, Providencia species). These organisms are capable of splitting urea into ammonia, decreasing the acidity of the urine and resulting in favorable conditions for the formation of struvite stones. Struvite stones are always associated with urinary tract infections.

The formation of calcium phosphate stones is associated with conditions such as hyperparathyroidism and renal tubular acidosis.

Formation of cystine stones is uniquely associated with people suffering from cystinuria, who accumulate cystine in their urine.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO PREVENT IT-
      - Drinking enough water to make 2 to 2.5 liters of urine per day.
      - A diet low in protein, nitrogen and sodium intake.
      - Restriction of oxalate-rich foods, such as chocolate, nuts, soybeans, rhubarb and spinach, plus maintenance of an adequate intake of dietary calcium. There is equivocal evidence that calcium supplements increase the risk of stone formation, though calcium citrate appears to carry the lowest, if any, risk.
      - Taking drugs such as thiazides, potassium citrate, magnesium citrate and allopurinol, depending on the cause of stone formation.
      - Some fruit juices, such as orange, blackcurrant, and cranberry, may be useful for lowering the risk factors for specific types of stones.
      - Avoidance of cola beverages. NOT JUST CAFFINE.
      - Avoiding large doses of vitamin C.

REMEMBER DO NOT TAKE ANY DRUGS WITHOUT THE CONSENT OF YOUR DOCTOR!! AND AVOID AND CAFFEINE AND COLA DRINKS!! AND IF WANT TO ELIMINATE THE KIDNE STONES TALK ABOUT ITS DESTRUCTION THROUGH ULTRASONIC WAVES (THEY ARE PAINLESS AND CHEAP!!)

      Good Luck!!

For men, testicles are among the most important parts of the body. They have to do very important function as they are part of the male reproductive organs. 00004000 The main function of testicles is to produce the male hormone testosterone and sperms.

Sometimes men experience testicular pain in one or both testicles. Many factors cause the pain, such as any type of injury or problem with the testicles, or when something goes wrong in the abdomen or groin. It is imperative to understand the main causes of pain in the testicles so that proper medical attention can be sought to prevent any damage to their functioning. Let us see what the common causes of pain in the testicles are.

Trauma: If the testicles received some kind of injury or trauma, they become painful. During sports or due to some accident, etc, the testicles can get trauma or injury. The damage and pain depend on the degree of injury. This type of trauma has to be taken seriously since the damage could be serious with internal bleeding. Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Can kidney stones cause abdominal pain after sex in men?
I had a very rough sex with my bf couple of days ago.We had sex for couple of days almost non-stop.In couple of day,he began to feel a sharp constant pain in his lower left abdominal side(not the kidney,on his stomach side).I wonder if that can be from sex.He has that pain for couple of days now-it stays the same-sharp and painful. Can it also be from kidney stones or gold bladder?I don't know what it is,can somebody help me?

    • ANSWER:
I really miss rough sex! My former ex was really professional in that and kinky! The one after was kinda softer and never did any kinky stuff... Your word of having sex for 2 days non stop got me all excited and made me wanna call him again for a re-bound or some!

  2. QUESTION:
    What causes kidney stones?
I heard it is from excessive sugars from junk foods is this true? Plus, I heard that drinking water and sometimes cranberry juice also helps eliminate this problem, and another benefit is that it reduces enlargement prostate in men. I don't have kidney stones, even though I wondered about kidney stones in general so I thought I'd ask. However, I didn't go to the doctor yet but I believe I might have enlarged prostate because I feel a throbbing feeling inside of me over top of my anal area and it's NOT ANYWHERE located in the scrotum area, so I know it's not my testicles. I believe it's the prostate. Are these one of the symptoms for enlarged prostate? Will drinking water and cranberry juice shrink it to size, if that is the problem of the throbbing and pulsating feel, it's a little bit on my left side located where I stated earlier.

    • ANSWER:
I think there are like 2 or 3 types of kidney stones.

Calcium Oxalate stones are caused by too little calcium in your diet.

Uric Acid stones are caused by highly acidity in the urine.

Several other minor types dealing with phosphate, magnesium, etc.

I was on a diet consisting of a lot of carrots and bananas. A lot. other stuff too, but a lot of carrots and bananas. Did i mention, there were a lot of carrots and bananas?

The magnesium did me in. I was in dire pain from mid-torso to the bottom of the torso. I truly thought I was dying. Then the puking started. Got to the hospital and was quickly diagnosed with a kidney stone.

With a big smile on her face, the nurse told me the pain was similar to childbirth only worse. I think she was enjoying herself.

When it finally passed, the little metal pan i peed in went "tink". They recovered the stone and put it in water. It dissolved. oh, well.

  3. QUESTION:
What hurts more for men; a kick down there or kidney stone?

I've also heard that kidney stones are EXTREMELY painful one of the worst pains ever... can they kill you? And which hurst more, kidney stones for men or for women?

Pls mention your experiences and opinions :)

PS: NO nasty answers or telling me I'm a pervert coz there's nothing wrong with being curious...

    Thanks x :D

    • ANSWER:
I don't know what it's like to have a kidney stone, but I do know what it's like to be kicked in the nuts.

      It hurts.

      A lot.

      -Scott.

  4. QUESTION:
my bf had a kidney stone?
I've been dating an older guy for the past 2 months & a week ago, he had an attack of kidney stones & passed 2. He passed one at the hospital & the other one at home. When he passed the 2nd stone, I heard him scream from the bathroom & it just sounded like he had a knife coming out of him. He said he doesn't mind being so vocal when he passes a kidney stone cause they're so painful! My mom said its like having a baby for a man? when he took the stone to his urologist, he told him that this stone that he had passed was a "masterpiece!" it was that big & odd-shaped. My bf acted like it was no big deal & said, "all i did was pass a calcium stone!" what does it feel like for a man when he pisses out a stone through his dick? my bf said he was pissing fire into a strainer, any other men get that too? apparently he offended one of his ex gf's that he had a baby with because in the delivery room he said, "at least she can get an epidural, nothing like passing a kidney stone for a man!"

    • ANSWER:
I use to have a kidney stone too. I had been drinking hot beer mixed wit lemon juice and olive oil but it cured me and it's melt and gone now. It's nasty taste but it helps for sure.

  5. QUESTION:
If a man had some blood in his urine, besides a kidney stone, what could be any other causes?

    • ANSWER:
urinary tract infection (UTI) is the most common with this type of symptom

other symptoms of a uti are:
      -painful urination (burning sensation)
      -frequent urination or urgency
      -fever (sometimes)

if he has any of these other symptoms, he needs to be seen within 24 hours to get antibiotics to treat the infection. if he chooses not to do this, the infection could spread into his kidneys causing worse infection and pain. kidney infections often require hospitalization

in the meantime-have him drink lots of fluids to ward off dehydration and cranberry juice to help flush out the infection in his bladder.

  6. QUESTION:
what causes blood in the urine?
abrubtly and very heavy in the urine, dark, thick blood overcomes the usual and now is very unusual. i know some of the answers are kidney stones, kidney cancer, bladder infections, (that'd be some infection) and the like. but on a man, what is the most likely cause of this?

    • ANSWER:
Christ, don't ask people on a website, get to a doctor immediately.

  7. QUESTION:
What's wrong? Urinating every 20 minutes, no infection, not kidney stones, not pregnant.?
Help! I have had frequency of urination for a couple of months - had a course of antibiotics but there was no infection and that did not help. I am really bloated and have a lot of pressure, some pain in abdomen. In the past week, the frequency of urination increased to around every 20 minutes during the day and about 5 times during the night. My doctor gave me FloMax saying it might help with the frequency and could help with passing a kidney stone. (At that point, we both thought it was a kidney stone because I have a history of them). Yes, I know Flo-Max is for men. But it is being increasingly used off label for women for frequency and to help pass kidney stones.

He sent me to get a non-contrast CT scan and it showed no kidney stones. It did show a cyst on my left ovary. The nurse told me if the cyst was large enough, it could be causing the frequency of urination. But when I went to the OB/GYN they said it wasn't large enough (only 2.6cm).

The OB/GYN is trying to send me to the urologist without sending me back to my GP (not sure if my insurance will accept that). And I would like to check out non-invasive tests before they stick the scope up there, ok? What I'm wondering is: has anyone else had symptoms like these and what did it turn out to be? I see similar questions on here but no one ever seems to come back and say what it was after they find out.

This is driving me crazy. Usually I can figure out what is wrong (or at least narrow it down to a couple of things) so that when I see the doctor, I can make sure he checks those out. I have found this to be important since I have been misdiagnosed in the past (more than once). One time I had the same symptoms as above, the doctor treated me for a UTI even though urinalysis was negative, said if that didn't work, come back and we would try something else. I came back but the doctor did the same - more antibiotics for negative urinalysis. I came back again (by this time I was urinating every 15 minutes and my boss was so mad I thought he was going to fire me) and the dr wanted to do antibiotics a 3rd time in spite of yet another negative urinalysis. But by that time, I had done some research and was pretty sure I had a kidney stone. So I requested she order an IVP x-ray (yes, it's old technology now) and she got mad and said well it isn't necessary and your insurance won't cover it. I told her I didn't care, that I would pay for it myself. Amazingly she did order the test. When she got the results, I received a personal phone call from her saying she was sorry, that I DID have a kidney stone and it was obstructing my left ureter and I needed surgery immediately. I appreciate that she had the guts to apologize personally. So, anyway, that (and a couple of other incidents I will spare you) is why I like to have some IDEAS of what to ask about when I go into the doctors office.

Anyone else's experience and results? Please!!

  8. QUESTION:
cystoscopy and stent removal after kidney stones...?
Hi I have an unusual and slightly personal question....
(background)..I recently had an operation to have kidney stones removed and they had to put a stent in my Uretha tube which stayed there for 5 weeks. I went to have the stent removed which should take about 5 mins max.

They placed a camera through the end of my penis and a small rod with a claw so they could grab one end of the stent and pull it through and out of my penis... unfortunately (for me) the stent was only a few centermeters out one end when it got stuck... after alot of what I would call "YANKING" and pulling and what felt like "Ramming" of the camera back in and out about 4 times! and much gel and anesthic down there, they finally got it out after about 15/20mins (yes ouch). the reason for it getting stuck was allegedly that more stones/crystally type things formed around the stent making it lodged (probably scrathed its way out aswell)... anyways to my question....
I understand that there has been burning when I pee, etc as infections are common with this precedure and itt will naturaly burn a few days after anyways... but is it natural to have extreme pain on the underneath of my penis (under the spongy uretha) when I get even the slightest erection... excuse the termanolgy here but even when its under a semi im just get this awful pain .. like its broken or something? is this common... do you think it is just a lil pain from them man-handling me for 20mins or could this be serious damage ?? It doesnt hurt when its soft and it seems to have a curvature to it when its is slightly firm (which wasnt there before)???? and the pain is only on the underneath of the penis? sorry for the essay but as you can imaging ..for a mid 20's guy .. the slightly firm bit is causing me alot of problems (PAIN) (lighter note...especially in the mornings). Anyways any advise would be good thank you.

    • ANSWER:
When they try to yank the stent from your ureter, it is but natural that there will be some abrasions all along the tract. So, it is normal to have burning sensation while passing urine. However, if they have struggled to pull the stent out, they might have caused something more than just abrasion. Watch for the stream when you are peeing. If it is a steady stream without you straining much, then there is nothing to worry. However, if you are struggling to maintain a steady stream, then your urethra may have been damaged. Pain while having erection is a normal phenomenon. it is like stretching a wound in your arm when it is in healing stages; more you stretch, more is the pain. I hope that makes some sense to you.

  9. QUESTION:
Let me RePhrase this for you???????????????
In the bible the 10 commandment tell you what not to do. Well when you're a child and you grab mommys smokes, she smacks your hand away and you bite down on your binky and stare at her confused until shes says "you can't touch these because they can cause cancer." ya-weh never states a WHY? more than, "you'll go to hell if you don't" or does he???? Not the obvious things that are wrong that man knows without the bible are wrong like (murder and theft....all of the no $#it sherlock " wrong doing) I want to know why simply not being a chistian is wrong...what if you never heard about jesus??? (the bible never says anything about exeptions...the only way to the kingdom is through jebus) Why is being born a homosexual wrong (you can't help that)??? Why is pre-marital sex wrong ????(oh let me guess Stds are gods way of hexing sinners...too bad in know married people with stds...not having sex can cause kidney stones and you'll have a lesser self-asteem)
Why is adultrey wrong, if me and my girl are swingers, should it be a sin? What makes these things wrong or bad?

    • ANSWER:
The only bit of this re-phrasing that makes any sense is the bit about the Ten Commandments telling you what not to do - except that they also tell you what to do. They contain many positives as well as negatives, but then I guess it's been decades since you actually read through all ten, slowly and thoughtfully.

All that bilge about threats and punishments has nothing to do with the Ten Commandments. They are designed to show how holy and perfect God is, and how utterly unable we are to keep all God's commandments. Only when that penny drops will you begin to understand why God gave them. Then you turn to the New Testament and read what Jesus said about the two greatest commands being whole-soul love for God and love for neighbour, and you see how they summarise the Ten. But if you have no love for God, you are not going to love his word, right? Now do you see why the first two commands are about giving God his rightful place in our lives before we can go on to do the right thing by our neighbours? No? I thought not. Read the book below.

  10. QUESTION:
Women do you ever get mad at men when they think you are a whimp? They don't have to go through what we do...
My brother and my man were talking about how my sis-in-law and I are whimps. Well, first of all we both have endometriosis and get ovarian cysts all the time and not little ones even though 2mm cysts can cause pain. And we both have had them rupture. She actually had to have one overy removed do to this. Plus I'm pregnant with kidney stones (which suck by the way!) and she has had two children. I'm sorry, but how are we whimps? B/c we go to the doctor when needed? I've never gone to the doc when I didn't need to. I'm sick of men saying we are a weak sex. I'd love to shove a watermelon up a mans ass and see if he would like to get it out with out an epidural. What do you think? Do you think I'm over reacting?

  11. QUESTION:
my daughter had a baby with an older man, now he's trying to develop an actual relationship with her?
when my daughter was on an internship at a company last summer, she found herself messing around with a guy that 53 who was an HR manager. my daughter was 21 & a junior in college. I do not believe they were "dating" or anything like that, just getting together for sex. i believe she had other motives though, like a job after graduation or more money or something. shes a very beautiful blonde who gets her way with men. she ended up getting pregnant and found out a few weeks before her internship was up, so she didnt tell anyone. he's helped her out a lot, financially so far and has agreed to pay her 0/month in child support, outside of what he pays already for his other kids. He has 2 kids that are already in their late 20s. Jerry went with her to some of her dr. appointments, but probably looked more like her dad than the father of the baby! when she had the baby earlier this month, he was there. Melissa had a baby girl, she named it Amanda and kept our last name because he didnt want the baby to have his last name of Hernandez. he was real adement about it. while at the hospital, i was talking to Jerry and he brought how he knows a little what childbirth is like causes hes dealt with kidney stones. he said he just passed his 11th stone on March 25th! so i guess he does know what its like! since the baby was born, he's been over to her apartment a lot and she said they slept together three times already. she seems confused, like she really doesnt want to be with him, but feels obligated. there is a large age gap which doesnt seem right. shes going to start back up at school this summer and i dont want her to get pregnant again or anything. any thoughts of ideas?

  12. QUESTION:
What do you think about penal enhancement products?
You know what I think? Well I'm going to tell you anyway [smile].

You know those penal power commercials? The ones that promise an elongated penis, male enhancement, an increase in size, a bigger better penis? Products like Extenze, Prosolution Pills, Vimax, VigRx Plus etc.

Well I've been paying attention to where those commercials have its largest targeted audience. Guess where that audience focus is primed at on TV? To the men of color, on the networks that are minority based. Now they DO show these same commercials on the local and national networks as well.

BUT...they show these same commercials at least 5 to 7 times more on the networks of color. Specifically the Black Entertainment Television network [BET]. What do I think about this phenonmenon? I think these products have not been fully tested by the FDA; as the products like Viagra have already been approved.

The aforementioned penal enhancement products are appealing to the vanity of the age old fallacy of Black men packing larger penis' than their White brothers.

It pulls them into a fantasy of trying an experimental tablet; and this holds the product manufacturer not liable, because the men entered into this agreement of their own volition. It appeals to their base nature of bigger is better, and I want to be EVEN bigger!!

Don't be surprised when you start hearing commercials about the recall of all of these drugs; because they are causing blood clots, heart damage, kidney stones etc. Buyer beware...but most importantly; be satisfied with the way God has created you. Trust me He has created someone to fit that penis whatever the size :-)

    Psalm 139:14
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

    Peace...

    • ANSWER:
I don't think highly of them either. However there's one that doesn't ADVERTISE however it promotes Libidio increase. Viagra is promoting E.D. not penile enlargement. So there is a difference between either Low libidio or penile size increase.

Stiff Nights works for Low Libidio, glad they are NOT advertising. However because it works so well, like Rize 2 the occassion (original formula), they'll probably get sued by the big pharamectical.

He has a metal stent in place which will stay in for a couple of years or more. I know this could be a sign of kidney stones, or a side effect from the meds he's on, but i can't help worry. 15. QUESTION:
    What is wrong with me?
I'm a 52 year old man in what most would think is in very good physical condition. Six months ago I started passing visible blood in my urine. After seeing several doctors the best answer I could get from them was that I was having kidney stones. The urine went from tea colored to the color of cranberry juice. There was never any pain. I've had stones in the past and as anyone who has had them before can tell you, the pain they cause is the worst they've ever felt.

I discovered that the bleeding was brought on by the use of Advil. I would go weeks with no problems, then take Advil for an unrelated issue. Within three hours I began to see the blood again.
Needless to say, I quit taking Advil, Aspirin or Alieve as the are all NSAIDS and cause bleeding.

Since then, I've only had one incidence of visible blood. However, Now I'm experiencing another symptom that has me scared and baffled. I work construction for a living. In the past few weeks my stamina has fallen way off. I become extremely fatigued after only a few hours on the job. After going home my body seems to become one giant nerve to emit pain. I can only compare to the body aches that one feels during the onset of a bad case of the flu. No fever or chills. No joint pain. Just muscle aches. While the urine appears to be of normal color, I wonder if there is something connected here.

Since the doctors have been useless, I am hoping someone here can help give me some answers.

    • ANSWER:
      Stephen,

I don't believe your problem is related to your use or discontinued use of NSAIDS as they have no effect on or relation to "stamina" as you put it. At least I fail to see any connection.

  16. QUESTION:
What ever shall i do oh nooooooo?
When I was 17 my girlfriend at the time was finally ready to have sex. I, as one might expect of a 17 year old, was excited. Neither hell nor high water was going to stand between me and my final destination.

I get ready for the night, trim everything up, shower extra well. Unfortunately there was also an issue. I have a digestional disorder that sometimes cause my **** to become large and quite solid while still inside me. I wasn't aware it was a treatable problem and, in fact, just thought everyone had to deal with the equivalent of anal kidney stones. I bring this up because I had a mighty one which had been loaded into the gun for several days.

Let me set the scene. Her parents are away. We have her house to ourselves. She was always a little kinky so she demands we do it in her parents bed.

I walk in to a candle holocaust. She's been working on this all day apparently, and its as bright as high noon in there with the lights off. Which is good, because she proceeds to do a sweet, sexy little dance for me. At 16, she was AMAZING. For those of you who never experienced a female at that age, I pity the fool.

Now I'm sitting on the bed, watching this dance. I smile and tell her how good she looks. Unfortunately, most of my attention is focused on the dull throbbing from my sphincter and the large amount of intestinal discomfort associated with not dropping duce in days. But somehow I still get hard and we go to town.

She starts out on top, then we switch. I bend her over the bed, and I even smack her *** (a ballsy move at the time, but she loved it). Due to my built up distraction, I last for what seems like FOREVER. She can't stop moaning and telling me how good it feels, and then she says what every man wants to hear "I want to make you *** in my mouth." I ******* love women.

So she goes down on me. She was always average at best in the head department but at least she tried. She pops my cock out of her mouth long enough to look up at me and say "tell me if you like this". Then I feel it.

She stuck her finger up my ***.

My brain hits the panic switch and every muscle in my entire body locks up tighter than a three year old virgin. But its too late.

I take a massive, PAINFUL, PAINFUL ****, all over her parents comforter.

No, you aren't understanding. I mean large. Huge. IMMENSE. Take your largest **** and multiple it by forty-two and you'll have an idea of what flew out of me.

And gents, when I say flew, I don't mean "I pooped." I mean "projectile". I mean "hurricane force winds hitting an umbrella stand". And due to my condition, it comes out as a large, dark brown, smelly harpoon.

I know it hit her. I didn't see it. She ran screaming "OH MY GOD OHMYGODOHMYGODEEEEEWWWWWWWW" but I always imagined that, due to her position, it hit her right in the chin. Or at least the ****.

I would like to say I got up to go after her. But I heard the bathroom door shut and I just lied there. The smell hit me after a few seconds. It smelled like someone rolled a cat in **** and threw it into a tire fire. I looked down and saw, to date, the largest bowel movement I've ever heard of laying on the bed. Then I noticed the blood, and when I did, I noticed the pain.

Apparently the fact that it was so large caused it to rip my *** a little bit (thought I was bleeding from the inside. This little doctors trip the next day is what taught me of my condition). There was a small pool of blood where my *** had been. A final reminder of the exact place and moment I lost my virginity. I will treasure this memory for all my days.

I grab my **** with my hands and go to the downstairs bathroom. I throw around 1/3 into the toilet and flush, fearing any more will clog it and only add to my already significant woes.

I stand there, holding 2/3's of my biggest **** of all time, feeling a trickle of blood flow down my leg, trying to ignore the sharp pain stabbing my rectum. I find myself wishing I had a photo of this.

Anyway, I finish flushing my baby, clean off my hands, jam toilet paper between my cheeks (I skipped the band aid) and went upstairs. I could hear my girlfriend sobbing from behind the bathroom door. I decided not to say anything to her and just keep moving. The smell in her parents room was abysmal. Its like when you take a **** and walk out of the bathroom you think "hey not so bad today," but then you walk back in to grab your magazine and go "HOLY ****!". It was one of those moments.

The scene is burned behind my eyelids for all time. My life. My shame. My very first time smelled like a pile of dead babies. I quickly got dressed since the heat from ten thousand candles was making the room feel more like a port-a-potty.

  17. QUESTION:
Is it right for a doctor to go against my will and do a surgery that could have been avoided by scanning me?
The situation was that I had a kidney stone that was just not passing timely. I went into the ER for pain a few times and had eventually made a surgery appointment. Days after I had a ct scan I felt no pain as if the stone was not there, and when I went in for the surgery a day later still not feeling any pain, had asked if they were going to scan me first to find out if I still had a stone or not, and the doctor said no we are just going to go in there and see, if it's there we will pull it out if not we won't. So in other words he did an unnecessary surgery and I believe it is malpractice in doing it for the money, not that it needed to be done. A simple X Ray would have clarified if it was still there. I think the real procedure would be to scan me once again to see if it is still there and not go on the scan that was performed days before the surgery when my doctor told me I was about to pass it. It was caught in my ureter and made that tube 16 times its size, so good thing I went to the hospital or it could have done more damage to my kidney. So what would you do if you were me? What would you believe if you were me? I don't think this doctor did right by me, by my asking for a ct scan or X ray. I would have been scanned, not poked and prodded on cause he said that there was no stone to be removed. So why didn't they scan me first? Why did they go ahead with the procedure which costs a significant amount more instead of scanning me and getting me on my way? I understand that these doctors are doing us favors, I know I need someone smarter then I am and knowing what they are doing but, it just felt wrong, it still feels wrong and if I was rich I think that I would have a legitimate case here. Not that I am going to sue or would sue, but just so that I die a happy man and knowing who is fair and unfair. The main question is, could Dennis Rodman or Some billionare sue for this? And is it right what they did going against my wishes? In fact I was told that they would scan me prior to putting me under and they did not. If you know the proper procedure, tell it to me... But don't act like I don't uinderstand more then what is written in here, in which I do know more, but honestly just looking for advise as to the fact that it shouldn'thave happened this way, to pay a considerable amout more then I should have to. On top of it maybe happening to many other people as well, I just don't think it is fair and think that it should be stopped before this doctor gets too ahead of himself. There was no reason for surgery and there was no reason for the stent if there was no surgery, so I went in to the hospital having felt no pain for longer then ever, to be pout back in the same type of pain with string hanging out of me. THAT is what seems most odd. I could have been done with the whole thing hadn't it been for the Dr. to go ahead with a scheduled surgery. I understand the surgery was marked on their calendar, it doesn't or shouldn't mean they have the right to abuse our genitals while we are on an anesthetic if they could have avoided it altogether. Please someone agree with me?

    • ANSWER:
In the many, many kidney stone surgeries I've seen, I've never seen a urologist not get a film first, just before starting the procedure. The room we do our cysto's in has Xray built into the OR table.

If the ureter was 16 times it's normal size, you had a ureteral obstruction caused by the stone. Total obstruction like that can cause kidney damage. NOT doing surgery in that case would be malpractice.

You got a stent - our urologist obviously felt that was necessary, probably so that ureteral swelling (stone or no stone) wouldn't cause continued obstruction.

Stones hurt only when they move. Just because the pain goes away, it doesn't mean the stone passed (unless you saw the stone come out in your urine). People grow stones that fill the kidney and never know it, because the stone doesn't go anywhere and cause pain.

Sometimes during surgery, they grab the stone and remove it, sometimes they push it back into the kidney and try lithotripsy later, and sometimes they laser it in the ureter to make the bits small enough to pass.

Did you read the surgical consent form that you signed? Did you ask the physician exactly what was going to be done and understand what was said? There are no guarantees in medicine, and kidney or ureteral stones can be tricky to get rid of.

I think your biggest problem is a lack of understanding what was done, and why it was done. Perhaps your urologist isn't very good at communication. I recommend getting a copy of the operative report and finding out exactly what was done and what was found.

  18. QUESTION:
    frequent uti's in a man?
I'm a caregiver and I help take care of this man who in the past 6-7 has had reoccuring uti infections. He is prescribed antibiotics for them but they continue to come back so bad that he becomes incoherent, runs fevers, dehydrated and has been in and out of the hospital countless times. Can anyone tell me what may be causing these?. Also he is disabled, using a wheelchair is non mobile at all, has a suprapubic catherter and a concave colostomy,
He doesn't have diabetes, nor BPH, he has had his catheter for over 5 years+ without incidents like this, His catheter is changed monthly by his neurologist only, and irrigated twice daily at home by his caregivers. He does only have one kidney and had a kidney stone which his neurologist thought may be the problem removed but the stone was removed several months ago and the UTI's keep returning. He had had all kinds of labs i.e bloodwork, urine cultures/specimens, x-rays of abdomen but the doctors can't find out what's causing them

    • ANSWER:
It could be a factor of the area around the catheter not being cleaned properly, he may not be getting flushed as he is supposed to, he may not be gettting enough liquids for his kidney to flush properly. Try giving him som cranberry juice--if he doesn't like it then dilute it and gradually work up to a stronger strength of taste.
This is all I can suggest since every thing else seems to be okay for him.

  19. QUESTION:
I used to be in an abusive relationship and now my body hurts all the time? What can i do?
So, When i was 18 i married a man who turned out to be not so good, we were married for 2 years before i got out. He was very abusive, i got hit with bats and crowbars and pushed down stairs i had 3 miscarriages with him cause of the abuse. I am now 22 and doing a lot better with life, but my body hurts SO bad all the time! My left hip hurts so bad most days that i can not put any weight on it without screaming cause it feels like its gonna break, my right one will get like that occasionally but is never as bad as my right. Both my shoulders constantly are in major pain and if i lift anything very heavy (25lbs) it feels like my arms are going to come off. My back constantly hurts no matter what i do, my right leg is like an inch shorter then my left somehow. I have tried a chiropractor and that didn't help, i have tried physical therapy and that didn't work. The chiropractor only made it feel half better and that lasted maybe 2 days and it was back to really bad pain again. And the physical therapy i thought was going to help but after a few months it just stopped helping at all. I take Tylenol and that doesn't take away any pain, i take ibuprofen and that doesn't do anything. The doc gave me Oxycontin (i think thats what it was called, it was for pain with a kidney stone i had) and that helped but it made me sleepy so all i could do was sleep while i was on it so that doesn't help much when i have things i need to do. I have a 14 month old son and i am due next month with a baby girl (so obviously i can't take any major pain killers right now). But i am just wondering if there is anything a doc can do? I have gone into the ER before and they tell me that there is obviously something wrong with me but that they wouldn't know what it is without doing a lot more tests (i was there doing tests for 6 hours once and i told them to stop i was going home) I don't know why its so difficult to figure out! I mean I went to the dentist and they took x-rays of my teeth then the dentist asken me if i had ever been hit in the right side of my jaw, i told him i had been hit in the right side of my face with a baseball bat once and he said oh yeah i thought something like that might have happened cause it looks like one of those teeth has had some major trauma and might need a root canal. So if he can figure that out why is the rest of my body so hard? I hate being in all this pain all the time! What can i do?

    • ANSWER:
you need to first have this new baby congrats on this wishing you a healthy baby, after you need to go back to gp a different one explain that dentist could see trauma and blag it say dentist said i should ask for a cat scan on my hips and shoulders to show trauma damge cat scan will show damaged splinters of bone that xray cant see, they can givve you asteroid injection under ultra scan into painfull area it takes inflammaation away and pain this is brillant i think you need to take him to courtmicky im a guy i hate bullies

What Causes Kidney Stones In Pregnant Women

Written By: admin - Aug• 28•12

All women experience menstrual disorders sometimes during their child bearing years, before menopause. While Western medication has never viewed that menstrual disorder is a problem of women reproductive system, traditional Chinese medicine looks at this problem seriously, if untreated, it will disharmonize the women ecosystem, leading to nervous tension and other health problems, including infertility.

1. Colding effect
Eating cold foods for a prolonged period of time will cause kidney yang deficiency. Cold foods are yin in nature, after entering the stomach, our body needs to provide more yang to digest it that depletes the yang qi.

2. Life style
Some people like to drink cold drink after taking straight from the refrigerator, eat raw foods, swim in a cold water, go out a lot in rainy weather or cold water, etc., they will cause extra yang produced by the body to counter the affect of the cold.

3. Excessive exercise
Exercise is considered healthy if you can do it properly and understand the limitation of your physical body. Rigid exercise pushes you body over limitation and consume, leading to kidney yang deficiency.

4. Frequently sexual activity
Frequently sexual activity drains the kidney jing, leading to kidney jing and yang deficiency that distort the normal function of kidney in regulating the natural process of conception. In serve case, it may cause menstrual disorder and infertility.

5. Aging
Aging is a biological process that we can not stop, but delay it. While youth is yang in nature, aging causes depletion of yang qi slowly.

  1. QUESTION:
Kidney stones and 37 weeks pregnant?
So this is my second pregnancy but after i had my son which was a year ago i was diagnosed with kidney stones. I was gonna get them removed but i fell pregnant again and the stones are too big to pass. I keep getting pain in one of my kidneys, then when i have to pee i notice my urine has a blood tint to it. Which has happened before in this pregnancy. I know its just the stones though, cause my OB always checks my urine like every other pregnant women and there is no infection. I just seen my dr a few days ago.

I was wondering if any of you ladies had any experiances with having kidney stones while pregnant and what did you do in this situation???

    Thank you.

    • ANSWER:
well i had a friend that had kindey stones and they got really bad and she ended up in the hospital with high blood pressure. And so they had to to an emergency c- section to get the baby out at 29 wweeks.. soo i think you are okay. you only have a couple weeks left. BUT i would def get it taken care of once you are done with this little baby. GL

Please!!

I get that problem everytime I go on a bender down the pub.

  4. QUESTION:
Help writing a complaint letter for awful service I got in ER (38 weeks pregnant)?
Writing/grammar is not my strong suit so hoping someone can assist: CAUTION I'm Pregnant so this may be TMI for some

Background:Thursday 5/6/11 approx 10:30pm I went to my local ER thinking I was having a problem (I'm 38 weeks and thought my water may have broken/leaking, I saw blood when I wiped and was having cramping back pain). I figured if I called my OB after hrs they would have just suggested going to the hospital.

I went to the ER and Trig nurse was extremely rude to the point I walked out. The info she got out of me was full name, DOB, Due date...then she asked if I was pre-registered with the hospital. I told her I assumed that my OB had done all this but was not sure because I never got any sort of conformation. She became agitated and asked me WHERE DOES YOUR MD WANT YOU TO DELIVER!?, I said the name of the facility, I tried to explain that I personally had not sat/spoken with someone in registration but she kept interrupting.I just wanted to be checked and was not expecting to be admitted, I know by fact she could have simply looked in the Medical Record Database.
for a pre-registration or simply called the registration department.

She mad me feel like I was a waste of time and energy by the tone in her voice and felt everyone in the waiting rooms eyes on me 9I was standing in a hallway this was all done in public). So I said forget it, I obviously made a mistake coming here and walked out.

I think she realized what an ass she looked like and came chasing after me. I was sitting in my car at this point and she grabbed my door before I could close it and put herself between me and the car door and began yelling at me to "get back inside!!" Like I was a dog or something!!! I felt VERY uncomfortable/threatened at this point and had to demand several times that she get away from my door I even put my car in drive and threatened to move with her there or not.

I called my OB when i got home and just like I expected---Go to the hospital. I explained what was going on and he suggested I wait till morning unless something more came of my situations (assuming this woman's shit ended at 11pm anyway). PS My MD said I should be pre-reg also and it should not have been an issue. They could have just asked my OB's name!

Anyway turns out I was passing a kidney stone! Obviously not a medical emergency but it can be painful, cause infection and worry some because I don;t know my body as well as I did when I wasn't pregnant.

Can anyone help me write a letter of complaint with the gibberish I just wrote?
After 9pm you have to go though ER to go to labor & delivery.
my letter: As you know we are most vulnerable when we are unable to take proper care of ourselves. Still, this does not give any person the right to take advantage of this situation or make someone feel as though they are a waste of time. But, this injustice is precisely what a staff member at your Emergency Triage unit is guilty of. I write this letter in hopes of preventing another incident happening in the future.

    • ANSWER:
What you are looking for specifically is breach of patient confidentiality . Your patients rights were also violated. You can get a copy of patients rights from any hospital , and cite the specific ways in which yours were violated.Strictly speaking ,preventing you from leaving when you are already in your car is criminal unlawful detainer. Sometimes we HAVE to do this to prevent someone from driving DUI or impaired from a medical or psychiatric condition , but not just someone in full control of their faculties. Make sure you address this IN PERSON with that hospital Administator, as well as in writing.or your complaint will likely get " lost " . You can also complain to the Joint Commision of Accredited Hospitals, if that hospital is a member. And of course to the State Medical Board. Look for an online survey as well. The nurse also has a State Board who can issue a disciplinary letter , but this does not rise to the level of malpractice.Disciplinary actions and censures are part of a nurse's permanent record.

  5. QUESTION:
    few questions,menstrual has skip 3 months/PCOS?
few questions, can PCOS make a urine pregnancy test negative? considering PCOS is to do with hormone imbalance, and at home preg test is also.
will repeatedly missing period make a non pregnant, healthy woman sick?
and finally what are medical problems that could cause period screw up, beyond pcos?
Its not stress, its not my diet, no weight change, otherwise normal and healthy. and no i'm not psychologically affecting my af.

please dont post long articles from goggle on pcos. i've already done my research on it. just my questions above is what i dont understand on the issue.

((additional details-- husband and i have been using (very precisely, medical) birth control for last 5 years. has worked so far but method isn't guaranteed 100%. my AF (aunt flo) has always been at end of month. last year husband went into hospital-icu during AF, af stopped immediately due to the stress, restarted 2 months later when he recovered, but was now coming at first of month. has been first of month ever since. 3 months ago i passed a kidney stone 2 days after af started. after pass the stone af stopped, which i understand. my AF is sensitive like that, obviously. but it always restarted as normal in the distant past, no matter what. last month it skipped 2 weeks and only came for 3 days. we thought i was pregnant b/c was having several other symptoms as well. 2 pregnancy test, at home urine, both negative. now this month, again going on couple weeks late. no sign of af, couple cramps for 2 days, no spotting, no nothing. don't want to waste money on more preg test just yet. we've recently begun speculating i might have PCOS, that gyn began noticing 2 years ago but didnt consider serious as af was normal then. from my own research i know pcos screws up period, but does this new "schedule" of mine sound at all normal, even for pcos?))

edit: and i'm going to gyno again very soon for these reasons. just appreciate others opinions on it.

    • ANSWER:
No PCOS cannot make a pregnancy test negative. No, missing your period won't make you sick. I haven't had my period in 6 months and my doctor said it is fine until I want to have kids, then I would just have to take some medication. You're lucky that your PCOS hasn't affected you drastically.

  6. QUESTION:
    Why is childbirth so painful?
Why did "mother nature" make childbirth painful? I mean really. If it's the most natural thing in the world then why does it cause pain? Why isn't the female body better equipped to give birth without pain? Is it to keep the population down? Maybe some women will choose not to get pregnant because they don't want to go through the pain of having a baby? I plan on having babies so the thought of pain isn't enough to keep me away. But it certainly scares me when I read about how bad it can get and I've even experienced kidney stones (talk about pain!) What is your opinion?
Ok ladies... Obviously I know WHY it's painful. I know it's because you are pushing a baby out of a small area, I'm not stupid and that wasn't the question. And I am not asking about a religious aspect. I know our bodies are very well equipped to handle childbirth obviously. I just wanted to hear some opinions.

    • ANSWER:
Well if you believe the bible, child birth was originally painless, but because of Eve's sin of eating the forbidden fruit, women are now punished with painful births.

HOWEVER, from a physical, scientific point of view, it's painful because it pretty much has to be.

If you were already loose enough for a full term baby to just ease right on out it wouldn't stay in/live. You body needs to lock the baby away for 40 weeks to let it grow. So of course when the time comes to let it out in a hurry, it hurts.

Your cervix has to dilate from a few millimetres to ten centimetres, then you have to force a head that's around thirty centimetres around through that opening. Just pushing the baby into that tunnel is painful because it does have to be forced.

Then it's painful to your vagina itself because of the sheer size and density of a human head. It's like if you lost your virginity to someone's knee. OW!

Our bodies are designed to do it, but that's not to say that it's not painful.

  7. QUESTION:
PCOS, Birth Control and UTI's - HELP!?
So, recently I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. It took me years to figure out why I always considered myself "broken"... I started taking birth control around the age of 15 or so when I missed a period for 6 months. I figured I was just taking extra time to become regulated and I was excited to know that a tiny little pill could offer so many other benefits, too! The pill regulated my cycles, and didnt give me any nasty side effects alot of other women tend to complain about, and I was pretty content with how I was doing... A few years later, at the age of 18, I got my first UTI. I shrugged it off and went on with my life not knowing how much of a war I was about to wage with my body. I got two more UTI's very close to eachother, and so I started washing ALL THE TIME. I pee'd after sex, showered frequently, washed my hands before any contact down there, and even used those little "wet wipes" instead of dry, irritating toilet paper. Nothing helped. I continued to have them, one after another, sometimes more than one a month... I was missing alot of work and couldnt afford it so I stopped making trips to the urgent care center and did my best to tough it out, AZO Standard and lots of cranberry juice in hand. I started peeing blood after the 6th one in about a 4 1/2 month period. Eventually everything started to blur together. It sucked to get out of bed every morning, any extra weight on my stressed out bladder killed me, and just the slight movements of walking jostled my urinary tract enough that It was hard for me to be on my feet for too long. At this point, It seemed like I'd had almost every different kind of antibiotic out there... I had two kidney infections (that were luckily caught early enough before they got too ugly) and another SEVEN urinary tract infections. TMI, but Im sure I passed several stones of some sort, (unless I was eating razor blades and they decided to exit from route 1 instead of 2,) and after a while, I was noticing that instead of searing pain that usually accompanied the passing of what Im sure were kidney stones, I saw little bits of bloody tissue, or maybe they looked like bloodclots. Probably both.. I still dont know why I was passing tissue out of my urinary tract, but the suspicion that someone had put a blender blade on high inside of my bladder was becoming more feasible as the crap continued with no end in sight... That went on for about a year, being no rhyme or reason to why I was getting so many UTI's. There was no way to tell when I was going to get one, nor could I figure out any kind of pattern or specific cause that was leading to the infections.. I saw doctor after doctor, and when I was finally referred to a urologist, he told me I was just "extra susceptible" and I would have to go on a three month cycle of pro and antibiotics.... So ANYWHOS... I went off of my birth control for a good seven months due to a bad moving situation and a redefined schedule... And then I noticed I had not. One. Single. Infection. The WHOLE TIME I was off birth control, I was perfectly fine! I was pissing on cloud 9! In the seven months that I was off of birth control, I started getting all the tell tale signs of PCOS. I didnt know at the time what that was nor did I care about the seemingly little symptoms. I was just happy to be pain free for once. So after I got diagnosed with PCOS, my doc told me I need to be on metformin, or birth control. I opted for birth control, knowing that metformin would be saved for when I was ready to get pregnant. Then, three days after starting the BC again, the mystery was solved. I came down again with another UTI, and I new that it was the birth control causing it, although I had NEVER heard of that being a BC side effect!!

I know this became incredibly long winded, and I havent even asked my question, but I figured the back ground story with details might help with the answer! So, what in the hell is the birth control doing to me to be causing UTI's in me like they're going out of style??? Ive never heard of this side effect from birth control, so Im just hoping someone out there could give me some insight on what the heck is happening! Ive got a follow up appointment with my gyno in a few weeks and Im sure she can give me some answers, but I wanted an explanation from you guys to tide me over for at least a little while! Thank you to all the readers who hopefully managed to power through all of that!

    • ANSWER:
I suffer from PCOS as well. I understand you not wanting to take Metformin until you want to get pregnant. However, I refused the birth control due to all the unpleasant side effects. If birth control in general is giving you problems, maybe you should consider having an IUD inserted to prevent pregnancy and give the Metformin a chance. Or if you would rather take BC regardless, try asking for a low dose BC instead and maybe that will relieve you from the UTI's.

  8. QUESTION:
I've been getting really sick for about a week now, but ONLY at night. Help me figure it out!?
For the past week I've been having an upset stomach: nausea, diarrhea, horrible stomach cramps, and vomiting yellow/clear bile. The thing is, it only happens at night, between midnight and 4 am. I'm also abnormally tired during the day. I recently began having light brown vaginal discharge, and while it may just be breakthrough bleeding (I use birth control to skip my periods a lot), it does worry me because it hasn't happened before, and I've been on this pill a few months now.

I was hospitalized a couple months ago (just before I started the pill) with uncontrollable vomiting, extreme abdominal pain, fever/chills, and fatigue/feeling like I was going to faint. At first the doctors thought it was appendicitis, but then when they found out I was on my period, they decided it was "period pain" and sent me home with some Motrin. (Wtf.)

Anyway, since then I've had less serious and painful but still extremely similar bouts of that, which I've been researching. Dysmenorrhea (extremely painful periods that often make you sick) sounds like the problem, especially if this discharge IS "breaktthrough bleeding." If that's the case, I'm not worried; nothing new birth control won't solve.

HOWEVER...my roommate's mom had a shot of appendicitis when she was my age, it went away, she experienced slight symptoms now and then, like I am now, and then suddenly, years and years down the line, her appendix ruptured. Apparently that can be very gradual, and you can feel symptoms beginning years ahead of time.

There's also a possibility I could be pregnant. Slight, but still a possibility. I took one test a while ago and it was negative, but it was really early. I'm worried the discharge's color could actually be implantation bleeding, and as for the getting sick and fatigue and whatnot, some women experience those symptoms just DAYS after conceiving.

My other thought would be food poisoning, but why only at night, and why for an entire week?

So my possibilities, to my knowledge, are dysmenorrhea, appendicitis, or pregnancy.

Additional information: I'm 19, almost 20. I'm on Apri, a generic for Desogen 28. I take vitamins, including 1200 to 1800 mg of n-acetyl cysteine, a sulfuric amino acid that, in this current dosage, is supposed to help with compulsive hairpulling, which I also have. I've heard that this dosage can cause kidney stones or liver problems if you don't supplement it with enough Vitamin C, so even though I've tried balancing the two, maybe I could have problems there too? Also I was born 3 months premature and have an unrelated heart condition (I know, I sound like such a winner having all this crap wrong with me hahaha).

PLEASE let me know if you've experience any of these symptoms and what your outcome was!

    • ANSWER:
i had the same problem they thought i had dysmenorrhea but i wasen't on my period and they sent me home with apo-naproxen, but it didn't work, my doctor thought it was appendicitis or ovarian cysts, but they didn't see anything on the x-ray and ultrasound than i had a bloodtest where they checked for chron's disease in a blood test, but still no luck.

i don't take any medication, but i have these horrible pains also in my chest, breasts and sides it feels like a stabbing pain, but they only started coming 3 months after the pain started
-they just dismissed me and told me to take advil, talk to your doctor about something that may cause those symptoms that doesn't involve any of the organs in your abdomen

-i know a lot of people who have had the same problem, and did the same things, but the doctors just sent them home cuz they couldn't figure it out..

  9. QUESTION:
Please for any mothers who have had pregnancies when tubes were tied, read my story!!Need help!Going crazy!:S?
So,this is my low down of my recent story.I am a mother of a 12yr.old son and a 5 yr.old daughter.I had my tubes tied in Jan.2004, two months after my daughter's birth.I had my last period that started very weird for me.Two days prior, I spotted brownish color thinking okay,my period is coming but usually I start off red.(Sorry for detailing but this may help me)then my period commenced somewhat slowly on Aug.15th and lasted about 2 days. Then that Monday night the pain I was getting in my lower back was immense.I couldn't go into work the next day.I usually cramp and bloat like anyone else but the lower back pain was harsh.Once Tuesday was here of that week, when I was done my aunt flo,I mainly get one day of remaining left period (liner) and good to go.My periods lasts lately 3-4 days only but this was different. For 3-4 after I was done, I was spotting brown again but only when I wiped after I peed, nothing on my liner. Then all these things were happening to me incl.the lower back pain that hasn't gone away yet.I got pinching in the pelvic( lower area too) at times sharp like someones stabbed me.Then nausea kicked in,fatigue and light headiness at times.I have been napping every day as I was off work for a week by my doctor because of all the tests and symptoms I have been getting.I feel bloated most of the time,a few times constipated but nothing major.I had a few days of vomiting and sometimes I can hold back but feel queasy if I do.One day,it was 3 times and I have no flu either.I recently feel my breasts heavy and sensitive but not overly.Nipples tender somewhat to the touch too.I went for blood work, urine samples all with my own Family Doctor and because all came back for no infections, etc. She examined me and found my uterus, bladder area sensitive, keeping in mind,no kidney stones,appendicitis,U.T.I.(which I had once and know what that is! Ouchies!) and peeing at times more excessive than normal. The doctor even checked a bowel test, etc.EVERYTHING is OKAY.The ultrasound shown nothing at all and ovaries are fine too. They can't detect if tubes were still tied by the ultrasound to what she told me that they can't.She is stomped right now and I think the ultrasound was too early to determine if I am pregnant if that's the case.My next period is due around the 10-12th of Sept.I have usually a 26 day cycle.I am lost and confused beyond belief.I've heard stories about having tubes tied over a period of time can open the clamp.I did 3 HPT but negative and aware it may be too soon.My son took 5 weeks after my missed period after a false blood test too.My daughter was positive HPT the day after my missed period.I need some guidance and info. that anyone can possibly find for this situation regarding possible pregnancy after tubes been tied.I can't find a good websites anywhere about this.I know it's best I have to wait on if I miss my period but all my symptoms were sudden and point to this but scared too.My b.f. is pumped cause he's got no kids but my own if I am prego and sees all what I am going through and knows I am not myself. Can anyone help with this matter please. I am seriously stomped especially since all my tests were fine to rule out any infections, etc. My Dr. said if worsen that I can keep going to get more blood work, urine tests but it's getting silly.I think she was really baffled about this and told me obviously to avoid any alcohol and take tylenol for pain till this is resolved.I always missed my period for my first two kids and never felt this drained out and my b.f. brothers are twins too.Can this be a high probability as well??Please any advise would be helpful from any mothers or people you know may have similarities to what I am going through. One thing is for sure a woman knows her body and I am definitely not the same at all since then. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
i am the product of a woman with tied tubes. so no its not effective.

i would continue to test, because if you are pregnant, the longer you go without knowing the more at risk you are for the fetus to damage something. Not that you're worried about being fertile any more, but i hear an eptopic pregnancy can be quite painful.

if you feel any really sharp pains i would go to the ER.

What Causes Kidney Stones In Adults

Written By: admin - Aug• 27•12

In traditional Chinese medicine is defined as a organ in charge of storing kidney essence, will, determination, and power of memory, water distribution, bone marrow, spinal and brain marrow, graping qi and bladder as well as hearing , and 2 private parts. Imbalance of kidney sometime can be caused by kidney yang deficiency due to intake of raw and cold foods, rigid exercise, frequent ejaculation, etc., leading to dampness accumulation that can manifest to damp heat, leading to phlegm.

I. Symptoms
1. Low sexual desire
2. Lower back and knee pain
3. Diarrhea
4. Frequent urination
5. Clear and profuse urination
6. Difficulty urinating, and
7. Edema
8. Sexual dysfunction
9.
10. Infertility
11. Clear vaginal discharge
12. No ovulation for some women
13. Etc.

II. Causes
1. Colding effect
Eating cold foods for a prolonged period of time will cause kidney yang deficiency. Cold foods are yin in nature, after entering the stomach, our body needs to provide more yang to digest it that depletes the yang qi.

2. Frequent sexual activity
Frequent sexual activity may not affect the young men and women, because kidney essence is abundant, but you reach a certain age, kidney essence slowly deplete, leading to yang qi deficiency causing low sexual desire and distorting the normal menstrual cycle including amenorrhea.

3. Occupation
Working in a cold environment for a prolonged period of time will cause yang deficiency, as our body need to balance the normal body temperature by constantly producing heat to counter the cold.

4. Etc.
III. Treatments
A. With Herbs
1. Bu Gu Zhi
Bu gu zhi is also known as psoralea fruit and used in traditional Chinese medicine in treating blockage of meridian kidney-Spleen. It tonifies the yang qi by increasing the kidney function in assisting the function of lung qi and the function of spleen in qi distribution.

2. Lu rong
Lu rong is also known as deer antler, deer antler velvet, it is a great herb that helps to reduce the blockage of the meridian liver and kidney. Since yang qi deficiency is also caused blood deficiency, improving the body yang by strengthening the liver's function in blood formation and kidney's function in fluid distribution, it reduces the yang deficiency in the body.

3. Du Zhong
It is also known ecommia bark, it is one the most used herb to enhance the function of meridian kidney-liver by promoting the qi and blood formation. Since the liver is a organ in charge of blood storing and blood formation and kidney is in charge of fluid regulation, it increases blood flow to the entire body and reduces fluid accumulated in the body, thus enhancing yang.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Please help me figure out what to do for my Saint Bernard puppy!?
I have a 7 month old Saint Bernard puppy who a week ago hurt his front leg while playing at the local dog park. He had x-rays taken and I was SHOCKED when the vet brought them in to show me and we could see right through the top part of his leg bone. The vet was also very concerned but basically told me it would naturally correct itself over time as long as I kept him quiet and didn't let him engage in ANY typical puppy play, including running, jumping and play wrestling. He told me that once my dog is an adult his bones will calcify and there won't be any issues, but how the heck am I supposed to stop him completely from being a normal healthy and happy puppy if he can't even play the way puppies are supposed to?
There has to be a way to get more calcium in to his diet without it harming him and I am finding VERY conflicting information on all of this. I have been told by professional pet stores that human calcium supplements are just fine, and I have been told by others that it can be very harmful and cause Kidney Stones as well as Urinary Tract Infections. I was given the advice to use eggshells and make a powder to add to his food, but if I don't make use of all of the eggs that will be a big waste of money so I wanted to include the whole egg in to his diet but am also finding conflicting information on whether they are ok. I have heard that raw eggs are great for a dogs coat, but have heard other reports of the Avidin in egg whites depleting a dog of Biotin (B vitamin). But I also read that giving them cooked eggs isn't good because they can stick to a dogs intestine. I am becoming VERY frustrated with so many differing sources of information and am really hoping someone with REAL EXPERIENCE and KNOWLEDGE can answer these questions so I don't feel like I'm not getting anywhere and so my poor baby can get what he needs to get better and STAY better as he grows!

History so far- brought him home at 7 weeks, put him directly on a holistic all stages dog food called Whole Life Natural from TLC. This food was very highly recommended and surpassed every other brand of food I looked in to in close to nearly every category which is why I chose it. It has 26% crude protein and 1.8% calcium but I was told the protein was more important in puppies and I have no idea what the recommended amount of calcium on a Saint should be.
I have been wondering if a raw diet might be something I should look in to and also wondered if anyone had any insight on that route. I truly do believe that every dog is different and requires different things based on breed, sex, size, weight, and dogs such as Saint Bernards who came from the mountains should eat foods similar to what they would get in the wild. Any thoughts and input on this would be greatly appreciated. I honestly feel like I'm backed up against a wall and even though I did so much research before I brought him home, I'm still not getting the necessary information for him specifically.

    Sincerely,

    ~Sarah~

    • ANSWER:
Have you received a second opinion from a different vet? That would be my first bit of advise, go to an entirely different veterinary office and see what they say without giving them background info. Then you can talk to them about whether or not they agree/disagree with your first vets diagnosis.

I don't think adding calcium to his diet will help the process become faster. It is probably just a genetic fault from breeding. My dog had spinal surgery when he was younger and we had to keep him very calm for almost 4 months. He wasn't allowed to jump off or on the couch or bed, go down stairs, or run around at all. It was a HUGE pain but it is do-able. We left his collar and leash on all the time and kept him at our side literally 24/7. My mom slept with his leash around her arm so he couldn't jump off the bed at night (.... even though I recommend crate training so you won't have to go through this... my mom is stubborn lol). Carry him up and down stairs if you have to go outside etc.

I've had similar experience fostering dogs that were going through heartworm treatment. They have to be kept very calm and quiet as well, and although it's a relatively short period of time compared to what your puppy has to wait for, we spent a lot of time in the crate and took very long, slow, calm walks in quiet places. I'd say that going to the dog part is an absolute no until his bones are better.

      Good luck!

  2. QUESTION:
Kidney pain! with no idea what is wrong!?
I've had kidney pain, fever, nausea and body shakes for about a week now and have already been to the E.R when the pain first started. I have a bad kidney already it only works 32% and it's damaged from when I was a kid. The emergency room told me the kidney was swollen and I might have passed a stone but that was it.
I have history of kidney stones and infections. The kidney doctor I went to yesterday told me my urine was fine and therefore no infection then I should be fine. Sent me home no pain pills just an order for a reflux test (VCUG) which I already had like 5 times & it always says I had reflux. I told him I don't want the test because I already know I have reflux and he told me to be an adult and have it done.. So I will go but i'm dying in pain all day long and it keeps me awake at night.

What is causing my pain!? I am 100% positive it is my right kidney because of my past pains related to the kidney itself. The urinalysis said "trace" for blood, protein & so on.. but not enough to say anything. Why the hell am I hurting! I'm so frustrated my kidney dr blew my off.
Could the fact that it is damaged and doesn't work well have to do with anything? Oh and my blood work levels for my kidneys are always really low.. whatever that means.

    • ANSWER:
Cranberry juice is a good source for kidney and bladder problems, I was told to drink it daily to help my kidneys after i had cancer surgery, but ask ur Dr. first, before starting any type of regimen, since you've suffering kidney problems from an early age. God bless you. take care.

Kidney disease in dogs can develop gradually, often with symptoms that are easily overlooked. Springing from a variety of causes, kidney disease can be detected by a simple blood exam that a veterinarian can administer once a month. Symptoms of kidney disease in dogs vary depending on the type of complication present, such as viral infections, poisoning, or even cancer.

Keeping a close eye on your dog can be one of the best ways to detect kidney failure, but nothing beats a physical exam done once a month. Here are some things you need to know about kidney disease in dogs, and the steps you need to take for treatment and medication.

1. Kidney disease in dogsis of two types, acute renal failure, and chronic renal failure. The former is caused by ingesting poisonous materials. If you have a couple of poisonous components lying around your house such as rat poison or anti-freeze, your dog may have accidentally ingested them. Chronic renal failure, on the other hand, is insidious and hard to determine in their early stages. Caused by a number of underlying complications such as congenial abnormalities, leptospirosis or even cancer, chronic renal failure mostly affects young dogs and old aged ones.

2. Kidney disease in dogscauses a variety of symptoms. The first thing you're bound to notice is the dogs frequent bouts of thirst and urination. Because of the kidneys weakness in processing water, the body signals the brain to consume more liquids, rendering your dog thirsty all the time.

3. Kidney scarring will give your dog a hard and painful time urinating. Excruciating pain will encourage your dog to vomit the water he drinks, so observe carefully for traces of vomit around the house.

4. If not treated early, the complications may begin to get worse. Your dog will start to lose her appetite and look fatigued and weary. Your dog may undergo depression and become extremely lethargic. Try smelling the dogs breath for traces of ammonia. It is at this unfortunate point that your dog has become extremely ill. You should consult a veterinarian at once.

5. Symptoms of kidney disease in dogsvary largely. Some dogs display their symptoms early, while others may look perfectly fine until things begin to worsen abruptly. The first sign of a symptom should be enough for you to take your dog to the vet. Kidney disease in dogs is a very grave matter that requires the attention of a medical professional. Bring a urine test with you on your visit. Remember as well to never deprive your dog of the water he needs, even if he expels them or urinates them indefinitely. Your dog is trying to hydrate his weak kidneys, so water must always be made available.

6. Prevention is better than cure. In chronic kidney failure and renal kidney failure, the damage is permanent. Kidney disease in dogs does not heal, but fortunately, with a set dietary management strategy, your dog can still live a happy normal life. Ask your vet for diets advised for dogs who suffer from kidney disease. Do not deprive your dog of a longer and healthier life.

I have a few scars that are about 2 years old. What are the different ways to get rid of scars? I understand that the age of the scars could also have something to do on the type of treatments that might work for it. So my question is this: how to get rid of 2 years old scars?

Getting rid of scars is what so many people in the world want to do since almost everyone has some kind of scaring on some part of the body. If you have some scars that are troubling you, then this short article might help give you some few tips and tricks that can help you treat your scars no matter how old they have been there.

1- Hydrocortisone- it works the good and it works for scars, rashes, acne, bur scars, pimples, its and all that kind of stuff you can find it at walgreens, walmart, cvs and stuff (get the ointment it works the best) believe me it works and keep on applying until it goes away for good tell me how it all worked out :)
2- Some over the counter cream to fade it away. If it doesn't' work that well, then you have to go for laser treatment, microdermabrasion and expensive treatments such as that. You can also try coco butter or something. There are actually many things you can use in trying to reduce or fade your scars, but it always depends on so many factors such as the thickness and deepness of the scars and what caused them.

3- I would also advise the lemon juice as well. It truly works. Try a few home remedies before paying money for expensive treatments/products. Vitamin E capsules. Swallow one, then pop another one, and put the juice over your scars. It may take a while, but scars will eventually fade. You can also use baking soda to wash the affected area of your body. It naturally exfoliates.

4- Also you can apply aloe vera (gel or juice) to heal acne scars. Look for one that is relatively pure. Rosehip seed oil is another option. Massage onto scars twice daily. Topical skin lightening creams give the fastest results too.

5- On the next page, you'll discover a manual that will teach you how to totally do away with all your scars.
